Become a Delegate
In 2020, in Austin Texas, the Libertarian Party Delegates will choose the presidential nominee.
In the Libertarian Party, every single delegate is a “Super-Delegate”. You can vote for whoever you want - there is no primary election.
Becoming a delegate is easier than you think!
You need to be a member of the national party, which includes donating $25 after May, 25, 2019. Here’s the link.
You need to be nominated by your state party. Here’s what that requires:
In some states, you just need to join your state party, show up to a meeting or two, and ask to be a delegate. Many states don’t even use all of their openings!
In other states, it’s sort of competitive to become a delegate. The easiest way to guarantee yourself a spot is to volunteer as a county chair, county organizer, or someone who helps with social media. If you’re seen as committed, you will probably be chosen as a delegate. This is rare, though. Most states do not fill their quotas.
Just ask what it takes to become a delegate in your state. It’s probably not that hard.
Arrange your travel. If you don’t have the money, there are usually donors, pacs, etc. that are willing to help with that.
