Trump: Most Bullies are Cowards

In May, when speaking to the NRA, Donald J. Trump promised to end gun free zones.

But after the Orlando shooting, which happened in a gun free zone, Trump lost any and all political courage.

Instead of asking congress and legislatures to repeal "gun free" zone laws, he supported the immoral and unconstitutional "no fly, no buy" bills. Instead of working to make people safer, he chose to try to remove the rights of the defenseless without due process. Instead of fighting the powerful anti-gun groups, he chose to target those already victimized by the federal government.

Instead of opposing the wrong, he chose to target the weak. Instead of taking on the powerful legislators whose foolishness has enabled mass killings, he chose to target vulnerable citizens who have never been convicted of relevant crimes.

That's no surprise. Most bullies are cowards.

As a Libertarian, I believe in second chances. So I'm asking Donald Trump to stand by his own beliefs. Mr. Trump: you pledged to end gun free zones in May. Will you stand by that pledge now? Will you publicly ask your supporters in congress and state legislatures to work to repeal "gun free" zone laws?

If you cannot, let America know that your views have changed. Let supporters of the Second Amendment know that their only choice is Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico and Libertarian candidate for President.

No Fly, No Buy Voted Down

The good news: the immoral, unconstitutional “no fly, no buy” legislation was voted down in the senate.

The bad news: legislation to repeal “gun free” zone laws hasn’t even made it to a vote.

“Gun free” zones let mass killers know that their targets cannot shoot back. Repealing “gun free” zone laws will make sure any future potential mass killer faces armed resistance. In fact, repealing “gun free” zone laws may prevent future criminals from even attempting mass shootings. After all, even the angriest criminals don’t attempt mass shootings in police stations.

The Orlando, Newtown, and San Bernardino shootings all happened in “gun free” zones. In fact, nearly 99% of mass shootings happen in gun free zones.

Senators: Will you sponsor legislation to repeal “gun free” zone laws? Will you filibuster to bring it to a vote? Will you prevent future mass killings?

Please sponsor and vote for legislation to repeal “gun free” zone laws. Please stop playing political games, and solve the problem. Let this be the last mass shooting of unarmed civilians in America.

And if you lack the political courage to sponsor legislation to repeal “gun free” zones, please step down. I, and other Libertarian candidates for U.S. Senate, have already pledged to sponsor legislation to end gun free zones. We will do whatever is necessary to bring that legislation to a vote, and do everything we can to make sure it passes.

If you cannot sponsor legislation to repeal “gun free” zone laws and actually make Americans safer, then please step down, and let us do it.
